Current Research Studies

Research studies currently taking place:

  • ASCEnD: This study aims to test the hypothesis that improvement in depression will be greater in participants randomised to aripiprazole/sertraline combination than those randomised to quetiapine.
  • CONTACT-GAD: To determine the clinical and cost effectiveness of tailored Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) plus usual care in comparison to usual care alone for reducing anxiety in older people with Treatment Resistant Generalised Anxiety Disorder (TR-GAD).
  • Dare2THINK: Digital, innovate, primary-care based trial with earlier use of direct oral anticoagulants to reduce the risk of stroke and  vascular dementia in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF).
  • eDIAMOND:  A study that is helping people who have been recently diagnosed with diabetes to control their diabetes without medication.
  • FreeDM2: This study aims to determine whether continuous glucose monitoring using FreeStyle Libre 3 will improve HbA1c compared to SMBG over 16 or 32 weeks in adults with sub-optimally controlled Type 2 diabetes on basal therapy.
  • IBPI: This study aims to support an underserved population by assessing whether providing parents who experience bipolar disorder with online parenting support leads to their children having fewer behavioural problems. This project will also investigate if this intervention helps parents to feel less stressed and more confident about their parenting, and to experience fewer mood or anxiety problems.
  • Phased-In: This study will feasibility test a pharmacy package using decision-making tools and point of care tests (POCTs) to share the management of acute infections for common infections in primary care.
  • SWELL: This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a preventive psychological intervention  for adolescents at elevated risk of depression. As parental depression may reduce effectiveness of CBT interventions for depression in young people, this study will also involve the trial team offering treatment optimisation for parents who are depressed at the start of the trial.
