GP Collective Action

You may be aware that there is an ongoing battle with the government about the GP contract, due to progressive underfunding and overstretching of resources, that is causing a huge stress to deliver the level of care that all our patients deserve and need.

The British Medical Association (BMA) launched a ballot, which was supported by practices, to take Collective Action to bring about change so we can improve patient care.

Following this, there are 10 different actions being proposed by the BMA and you are invited to read more about this here: GP contract 2024/25 changes

After discussion, Alchester Medical Group will follow BMA guidance and limit patient consultations to 25 per clinician, per day. This number is the safe level recommended by both the BMA and the European Union of General Practitioners.

Once this limit has reached, patients will be supported by the NHS 111 service.

We share the BMA view that we must come together as a profession to protect the future of NHS GP services for our patients and that this Collective Action is appropriate.

Thank you for your support.

Alchester Medical Group
